The Children’s House Master Class Series is a series of 4 courses with the goal of providing an opportunity for experienced Guides who are already trained to deepen their knowledge in the areas of Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, and Math. The lesson planning workshop is a key practice of a successful Montessori Guide. In this course, we will discuss strategies for how to know when a child is ready for the next lesson and how to stay organized while keeping individualized lesson plans for rapidly changing developmental and academic needs. Guidepost Orientation Training has been revamped into a half-day training intended for all new-to-Guidepost team members. This training will address Guidepost culture and core values, fundamentals of a Montessori classroom, general school & Covid-19 health and safety, and family communication.

Visible Classroom is an impactful self-reflective professional development and program quality tool that uses classroom cameras to allow Guides to film their own classrooms without disrupting the student experience. In this 3-hour workshop, we will discuss how to set children on the path towards self-discipline and how you can become a confident leader in your environment.

The English Language Guide Introduction course is designed for English speaking assistant guides that support the delivery of English Language presentations in the Children’s House (2.5-6-year old’s) Language Immersion Program (Spanish or Mandarin) in Guidepost Montessori schools. In this 5-hour live online course, we will begin to learn how to support the development of English literacy in an immersion program. We will discuss the strategies and best practices and share the prerequisites that will guide you on how to practice and learn the scope and sequence of English Language Presentations.

Using the toilet is one of the most important ways toddlers work toward independence. Well before the active toilet learning process, you can start preparing for the process by using diaper changing time to connect with the child, communicate clearly, create consistent routines, and involve the child as much as possible.

Montessori strategies can be implemented from birth, and expanded upon as the child grows in abilities and independence. In this session, we will discuss basic principles for working with children aged 0-3, including ways to support a child in achieving independence, engaging in concentrative work, acquiring language, and absorbing healthy social interactions.

This monthly gathering is open to Guidepost Elementary Lead Guides & Assistant Guides as well as Guides-in-Training. Sessions are led by members of the Programs team, Prepared Montessorian Institute training team, and Onward Peer Mentors, who are still in the classroom. These sessions take place on the 2nd Wednesday of each month through May.

We will discuss common obstacles to building trusting relationships with our coworkers and how to build harmony and a unified approach.
