Children's House Master Class Series

The Children’s House Master Class Series is a series of 4 courses with the goal of providing an opportunity for experienced Guides who are already trained to deepen their knowledge in the areas of Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, and Math. The purpose of this training is to align Guides from different training courses and discuss advanced Montessori teaching practice.

WHAT WILL BE DISCUSSED

This series is consisted of four 4-hour long online courses, each focuses on one of the following Areas in the Children's House Montessori curriculum:

  • Practical Life
  • Sensorial
  • Language
  • Math

Each course is two 2-hour classes on consecutive dates. Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation from Eventbrite and a Google Calendar invite for the 2 course dates.

Children's House Master Class: Practical Life

  • Discussion of Practical Life, the cornerstone of the Children’s House environment
  • Goals of Practical Life and Pro-Tips for setting up the Practical Life area
  • Detailed review of the recommended Practical Life curriculum
  • Exploration into the Five Groups of the Practical Life area
  • Detailed discussion about each area and spotlight some of the most revered Practical Life materials

Children's House Master Class: Sensorial

  • Signs of readiness for introducing the Sensorial materials
  • Different roles and components of Abstraction
  • Variations of Sensorial presentations
  • Review of how to set up the sensorial area in a Children’s House environment
  • Detailed review of the areas in Sensorial

  • How to implement an effective cycle for presenting language lessons

  • How do we prepare the child, physically and cognitively, to be successful with Language activities
  • The eight groups within the Montessori Language area and the materials within each group
  • Key takeaways and pro tips for your understanding and practice as we explore.

  • A review of the scope and sequence of the six groups in the Math Area
  • Best practices for engaging children in joyful early math experiences that will lead to a lifelong love of the subject

Meet the Instructors

Ana Amiguet
Ana Amiguet
Ana Amiguet is our Senior Trainer. Ana was a Montessori child and credits her love of learning to her experiences in a Children's House classroom. This background spurred her to complete her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Brown University, a Masters in Montessori Education from Loyola College in Maryland, and then an Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) diploma from the Montessori Institute of San Diego. Ana has worked as a Lead Guide in Children's Houses and has also held various Montessori administrative roles. Her favorite role by far is her current one on the Prepared Montessorian team, helping to train and support Guides bring this amazing teaching methodology to children.
Mariana Serralde
Mariana Serralde
Mariana Serralde is our Senior Trainer. Mariana has been a Montessori educator for more than 20 years, working as a Children’s House Guide, Head of School, Montessori Mentor and currently as a Senior Montessori Trainer. She holds an AMI Primary Diploma from the Montessori Institute of San Diego, a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education with a specialization in Second Language Learning. Her passion for Montessori and diverse experience across the world brings about an empathetic approach to spreading Montessori pedagogy. Mariana has worked and supported several teachers and schools throughout her journey, including bilingual Montessori environments at all levels and collaborating in the development of a dual-language Montessori model for one of the first public dual-language Montessori schools.
Emily Daggett
Emily Daggett
As a child, Emily attended Montessori programs in Portland, OR through middle school. She credits her education with fostering a love of learning that continues to serve her today. After earning a bachelor's degree in English Literature from Occidental College, Emily traveled the world and found her way back to her roots. She received her Montessori 3-6 and 6-12 certification from the Association Montessori Internationale, as well as an M.Ed. from Loyola University. She is currently working on completing her 0-3 training. Emily has worked with children ages 18 months to 12 years in Montessori settings and most recently served as Communication Manager at Montessori Northwest training center. She hopes to use her background as a Montessori child turned educator to advocate for high quality education for all children.
I took the Practical Life master class and it reminded me to use real things in practical life area and design meaningful and purposeful activities. A great course to refresh and deepen my Montessori knowledge.
