Extended Day Training

The Extended Day Training is aimed at supporting Assistant Guides working in the Extended Day program at Guidepost Montessori Schools in early childhood classrooms. Extended Day Guides are often the "face" of the campus, as this is when parents pick up their children, and we want to help you bring high quality programming to the later part of the day.

Extended Day Training

What It Is

The training consists of two components (self-paced and support):

1) Four asynchronous, self-paced session videos and questions hosted on EdPuzzle:

  • Session A: What is the Extended Day Program?
  • Session B: Planning for Extended Day
  • Session C: Art of the Presentation
  • Session D: Classroom Leadership and the Parent Experience

2) Ongoing support through the Extended Day Program Media Valet Page, regularly updated with lesson plans.

What Will Be Discussed

  • Learn how to carry Montessori principles throughout the entire day!
  • Earn the trust of parents through effective parent communication.
  • Focus on bringing self-directed learning to the Extended Day program.

Perfect For

  • Assistant Guides supporting or leading Extended Day programs for children aged 15 months to 6-years-old.
  • Self-paced learning. Guides can complete this training in as little as two weeks, and we recommend no longer than one month.

What You’ll Walk Away With

  • A general understanding of Montessori principles and how to implement them during the Extended Day program.
  • Know-how on setting up and planning for the Extended Day program, giving presentations, and maintaining a calm, concentrated environment.
  • Guidance on building trust with parents and creating a positive pick-up experience.

Certificate of Completion

Upon completing the training components, you can request to receive a certificate of completion. Prepared Montessorian Institute typically processes requests on a weekly basis. You will receive a certificate for 5 hours through an email from the service, Accredible, and your school leadership team will be notified of your completion as well.
